Are you tired of looking in the mirror and seeing a misaligned smile?
Crooked, crowded, and overlapping teeth can really take a toll on a person’s confidence. Not everyone had the opportunity for orthodontic treatment as a child, and even those who did may find that their teeth have slowly relapsed over the years.
But who wants to spend a year or more in conventional bracket-and-wire braces that can detract from your professional appearance?
Fortunately, you have another option. South Flores Family Dental is proud to offer orthodontic treatment using Invisalign, an innovative option that uses transparent plastic aligners to nudge your teeth into their proper places.
HOW INVISALIGN WORKS
We’ll start by determining whether Invisalign is an appropriate treatment for your needs. Dr. Martin G. Garcia will examine your teeth and discuss your goals with you. Invisalign can help solve a number of common orthodontic problems, and chances are good that it will work for you!
The next step is treatment planning. Using our specialized software, we’ll plan out your entire treatment from start to finish. Using digital impressions of your teeth, we’ll design a treatment plan to move your teeth into a more optimal position. Digital impressions are quick, easy, and more accurate than the traditional messy, gooey, uncomfortable traditional impressions. The Invisalign labs will use this information to manufacture your series of aligners, which are completely custom made only for you!
Once your aligners are ready, we’ll review the instructions with you and let you know how frequently you should change your aligners. For the best results, you’ll want to wear your aligner at least 22 hours each day. We’ll also schedule periodic appointments for you to come in so we can check on your progress. Check out the video below for better visualization on how aligners can straighten your teeth.
THE ADVANTAGES OF INVISALIGN
Aside from the obvious esthetic advantage, Invisalign provides a number of other added conveniences compared to conventional orthodontics. For one thing, you remove the aligners when you eat, so you don’t have to worry about dietary restrictions.
Additionally, you remove the aligners for oral care, so there are no hassles when it comes to brushing and flossing. We’ll provide you with instructions for cleaning your aligners so they stay in great shape.
Your aligners are made of smooth, BPA-free plastic, so they won’t irritate the soft tissues of your mouth like brackets and wires can. Invisalign is, overall, a far more comfortable experience than metal braces.
WHY STRAIGHTEN YOUR TEETH?
If you aren’t bothered by the appearance of your misaligned teeth, you might be wondering why you should bother straightening them at all.
Actually, there are several good reasons to straighten your teeth – check out the video below for a better visualization of how crooked teeth can cause damage over time:
- Crooked, crowded, and overlapping teeth are far more difficult to keep clean and are therefore more prone to developing cavities and gum disease.
- Widely spaced teeth have a tendency to trap food, leading to bad breath and cavities in between your teeth.
- When teeth don’t line up properly, extra stress is placed on certain areas of your jaw. Over time, this leads to excessive wear, which in turn leads to damaged teeth and pain in your muscles and jaw joints.
DOES INVISALIGN REALLY WORK?
Invisalign is effective for most orthodontic conditions. Correcting misalignment, overlapping or gaps between teeth, an overbite or underbite, and even making your occlusion (bite) more comfortable are all made possible with Invisalign. You can have the same treatment as traditional orthodontics without brackets and wires.
In some complex cases, we may recommend traditional orthodontics or additional treatment to make sure you get the best results possible.
